چکیده
Problem, research strategy, and findings New transportation options like ride-hail can expand accessibility without the costs of car ownership. Ride-hail’s potential is particularly salient for lower-income zero-car households. We used interviews a national (U.S.) survey to examine how why travelers in United States use ride-hail. Survey interview responses provided temporal snapshot thus reflect, part, travel challenges specific COVID-19. Findings suggest that travelers, those personal cars, ways distinct from typically reported broader surveys. Individuals cars are more likely ride-hail, it often, compared with people fill spatial gaps public transit service access medical care groceries. Costs price unpredictability remain significant barriers limiting travelers’ services.Takeaway practice This demonstrates latent need among travelers. Substantial alternative modes pose seeking reliable timely transportation. Planners should invest transit, biking, walking provide robust alternatives Such investments, however, take time. In meantime, cities agencies consider subsidizing trips bridge existing network.

Zero Round-Trip Time for the Extended Access Control Protocol
The Extended Access Control (EAC) protocol allows to create a shared cryptographic key between a client and a server. While originally used in the context of identity card systems and machine readable travel documents, the EAC protocol is increasingly adopted as a universal solution to secure transactions or for attribute-based access control with smart cards. Here we discuss how to enhance the...
متن کاملEffect of Local Retransmission at Wireless Access Points on the Round Trip Time Estimation of TCP
The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) has been mainly designed assuming a relatively reliable wireline network. It is known to perform poorly in the presence of wireless links because of its basic assumption that any loss of a data segment is due to congestion and consequently it invokes congestion control measures. However, on wireless access links, a large number of segment losses will occu...
متن کاملLobbying: Buying and Utilizing Access
This paper introduces an alternative to the lobbying literature’s standard assumption that “money buys policies”. Our model – in which influence-seeking requires both money to “buy access” and managerial time to “utilize access” — offers three significant benefits. First, it counters criticism that the “money-buys-policies” assumption is at odds with reality. Second, its much stronger lobbying ...
متن کاملOne Loop at a Time
Classic techniques for proving termination require the identification of a measure mapping program states to the elements of a well founded domain and to show that this measure decreases with each iteration of a loop in the program. This is a global termination condition — there is a single measure which must be shown to decrease over all of the loops in the program. In this abstract we look at...

for these devices. But the macro layer of a network can be expanded to go a long way. In the near-term, the smartphone challenge is not about providing the capacity to cope with subscriber datausage, but is related to how the signaling system is configured. To build the networks that will cope with long-term predictions requires a new approach to network construction, heterogeneous networks – m...
